Vizcaya Bridge in Portugalete
This bridge was designed by Alberto Palacio and built at the end of the 19th century. Until now, it is used to cross the river. It connects two towns: Portugalete and Getxo. It was the first bridge of this type in the world. It is about 50 meters high. There is a suspended gondola on steel ropes for transporting people and vehicles. Entry by car costs two euros and the fee is 70 cents per person. Since July 13, 2006, the Vizcay Bridge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
