One of the biggest attractions of Guadalest is the dam, which creates a reservoir on the Guadalest river. It was built between 1953 and 1971 and is one of the largest in the Valencia region. It is 185 m long, 78 m high, and 6 m wide. The reservoir has an area of 86 ha and a capacity of 12 hm³. From the dam, you can admire amazing views of the mountains and Guadalest castle, as well as the turquoise water of the lake.

The dam in Guadalest not only serves to supply water but also to protect against floods and produce electricity. It is equipped with a hydroelectric power plant, which produces about 15 GWh per year, it is also a place for practicing water sports, such as kayaking, rowing, or sailing. You can also rent boats or kayaks and swim in the lake, admiring the beauty of nature.
