Valencia North Station

Estacion del Norte, also known as Estació del Nord, is the main railway station in Valencia. It is located in the city center, next to Plaza de Toros de Valencia, the city’s bullring, and just 200 meters from the town hall. This station was designed by the Valencian architect Demetrio Ribes in 1906 and opened in 1917. It is one of the most beautiful buildings of civil architecture and a reference point for the city.

Its interior structure, a large marquee on a metal structure with articulated arches, was a real technological challenge at the time, covering a light of 45 meters in length. Its style is associated with the modernist movement, within the so-called “Viennese Secession”, but Ribes’ specific approach to the style gives it a unique personality.

It also stands out for its rich interior decoration, with a meticulous design of ticket booths and wooden seats, with mosaic inlays and ceramic decorations with an abundance of Trencadís, or broken tiles, as a finish for walls and ceilings, creating a complex of extraordinary beauty.

Estación del Norte is the main railway station for medium- and short-distance trains. It should not be confused with Joaquín Sorolla railway station, which is intended for high-speed long-distance trains and is located just behind the North Station.

Valencia Main Post Office

The Main Post Office in Valencia, also known as Edificio de Correos, is one of the most iconic buildings in the city. It is located in the city center, near Plaça de l’Ajuntament.

The post office building was designed by architect Miguel Ángel Navarro and opened in 1922. It is one of the most important examples of modernist architecture in Valencia. The building is unique due to its impressive facade, adorned with numerous sculptures and architectural details.

The interior of the building is equally impressive, with high ceilings, marble columns, and rich decorations. The central point is the large post hall, with its long corridors and numerous post windows. The Main Post Office in Valencia is not just a place where city residents can send and receive mail. It is also an important meeting place where people can gather, chat, and admire the beauty of this historic building.
