Huerto de las Palmas Gardens
If you want to see what a traditional huerta, or gardening area of Castellón, looked like, you cannot miss the Huerto de las Palmas Gardens, which are located on Huerto de las Palmas Street, near Ribalta Park. These gardens offer a rich and diverse vegetation, picturesque cottages and wells, interesting animals and plants, and many attractions and entertainment.
The Huerto de las Palmas Gardens were created in 1996 by a private initiative, with the intention of recreating and preserving the ethnographic and natural heritage of the huerta. These are gardens covering over 10 thousand square meters, which consist of several thematic areas. In the gardens, you can find over 300 species of plants, both cultivated and ornamental, such as citrus, olives, grapes, figs, flowers, and herbs.
In the gardens, you can also admire many architectural and artistic elements that give them charm and character. It is worth paying attention to the following objects:

- La Barraca: this is a typical cottage from the huerta, built of stone, clay, and reed, which serves as a museum, where you can see objects and documents related to the life and customs of the huerta population. In La Barraca, you can see furniture, dishes, tools, clothes, toys, and photographs.
- El Pou: this is a traditional well from the huerta, built of stone and wood, which serves as a water source for the gardens. In El Pou, you can see the pumping and irrigation system, which uses the power of animals, such as donkeys or horses.
- El Galliner: this is a chicken coop from the huerta, built of wood and mesh, which serves as a home for chickens and other birds, such as ducks, geese, and peacocks. In El Galliner, you can see various breeds and colors of chickens, as well as their eggs and chicks.
- El Hivernacle: this is a greenhouse from the huerta, built of metal and glass, which serves as a place for exotic and tropical plants, such as banana trees, papayas, mangoes, and pineapples. In El Hivernacle, you can see various species and varieties of plants, as well as their fruits and flowers.
