This festival offers a rich and diverse range of musical, cultural, social, and ecological offerings.
The Rototom Sunsplash Festival is considered one of the largest and best reggae festivals in the world. It was established in 1994 in Italy, as a club event, and in 2010 it moved to Spain, where it found its final home. This is a festival that lasts 7 days and 7 nights, and gathers over 200 thousand people from over 100 countries. This festival aims to promote and disseminate reggae values, such as peace, unity, love, tolerance, and solidarity.
At the Rototom Sunsplash Festival, you can also admire many artistic and creative elements that give it charm and character. It is worth paying attention to the following events:
- El Main Stage: this is the main stage of the festival, where the biggest reggae stars from all over the world perform. This event features legends of the genre, such as Burning Spear, UB40, Steel Pulse, and Capleton, as well as new talents, such as Protoje, Kabaka Pyramid, and Lila Iké. In this event, you can see and hear various styles and varieties of reggae, such as roots, dancehall, dub, ska, rocksteady, and ragga.
- El Lion Stage: this is the second stage of the festival, where artists from various reggae scenes from Europe and the world perform. This event features bands and soloists who present their own vision and interpretation of reggae, combining it with other genres, such as hip hop, soul, funk, jazz, and rock. In this event, you can see and hear various proposals and experiments of reggae, such as Dub FX, Pongo, Biga Ranx, and Hollie Cook.
- El Dancehall: this is the third stage of the festival, where the best DJs and reggae sound systems from all over the world perform. This event features masters of turntables and microphones, who create an amazing atmosphere and energy, moving crowds to dance and sing. In this event, you can see and hear various rhythms and vibrations of reggae, such as bashment, rub-a-dub, digital, and jungle.
- El Dub Academy: this is the fourth stage of the festival, where the best dub producers and operators from all over the world perform. This event features pioneers and innovators of the genre, who create amazing sounds and effects, manipulating music live. In this event, you can see and hear various techniques and tools of dub, such as mixers, effectors, synthesizers, and melodicas.
