Plaza de la Artillería in Segovia
Plaza de la Artillería is a large and spacious square in Segovia, located at the entrance to the old town. Its name comes from the former artillery school, which was housed in an 18th-century building, which is now the seat of the provincial archive. In this archive, you can find many valuable documents related to the history and culture of Segovia and its surroundings.
The square is surrounded by several important monuments that are worth seeing. On one side of the square is the city wall, which was built in the 12th century and is over 3 kilometers long. This wall has 86 towers and 5 gates, the most famous of which is the Gate of San Andrés, which is the oldest and most beautiful. From the wall, you can admire magnificent views of the city and its surroundings.
On the opposite side of the square is the Casa de la Química, which is one of the most modern and interesting buildings in Segovia. This house was designed by the famous architect Rafael Moneo and is the seat of the chemistry department of the University of Segovia. This house has a glass facade, which reflects light and creates interesting visual effects. Inside the house, there are modern laboratories, a library, and a conference room.
